ZZ Sogni Magici

ZZ Sogni Magici is a Chinese cuisine restaurant with the wording "di Zheng Zita" which opened shortly before Covid-19 and is therefore still little known. It is located in the Sant'Ambrogio area, in a neighborhood with many houses and almost no clubs: a few steps from the Università Cattolica, this place is an excellent idea for a quick and informal lunch.

The room, managed by the owner, has less than ten seats and at first glance it looks like a simple bar. The menu is simple: a huge variety of noodles (wheat, rice, buckwheat, pad thai noodles, Japanese udon or rice dumplings) with rather ordinary seasonings (beef, vegetables, shrimp) sautéed or in broth, some appetizers, main courses above all of meat and vegetables (bamboo, Chinese cabbage or bean sprouts).

Among the specialties I tried I indicate the delicious bao stuffed with pork (the dough is very soft and the filling delicious), the excellent grilled meat dumplings and the delicate ones of steamed prawns and the Hong Kong-style olives (actually indicated more as an accompaniment to the main dish, it is a very savory preparation with a dark and chopped consistency).

As for the types of first course, I tried the rice dumplings sautéed with vegetables and meat (soft and tasty) and the sautéed udon (also very tasty). For the main courses, I tried pork in paigu sauce (with a sweet-sour taste) and black pepper.

The dishes are fairly abundant and tasty, you feel that the basic condiments are well taken care of: if you ask, the owner will explain to you in detail how each dish is prepared, showing all the passion for her work. Among other things, on Tuesdays they offer spiced overcooked meat served in soft bread, on Wednesdays the traditional broth with pad Thai noodles and on Saturdays the traditional broth (among the toppings of your choice: pork ribs, chicken or vegetables) with noodles fresh homemade.

The final bill is slightly higher than many other Chinese trattorias in the city that offer the same type of dishes, but understandable because of the neighborhood in which the restaurant is located. If you are in the area and want to have a quick snack, this is the place.
