Kimchi and cheese onigiri - Bibigo Kimchi Cheese Rice Ball

Kimchi and cheese onigiri - Bibigo Kimchi Cheese Rice Ball are very popular in South Korea, where they are sold frozen in konbini and at Costco.


  • 1 portion cooked sushi rice left to cool

  • 1 small package finely chopped kimchi

  • 1 tablespoon gochujang

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • seed oil to taste

  • sesame oil to taste

  • well-drained mozzarella or diced pizza preparation (I used Brie cheese)


  • Heat some seed oil in a pan and fry the kimchi. Add soy sauce, honey and gochujang, stirring. Add the rice and mix so that all the ingredients come together well.

  • Form onigiri, placing two cubes of cheese in the center.

  • Brush the onigiri with a drop of sesame oil.

  • Place the onigiri on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake at 200°C for 20 minutes. Turn the onigiri and cook them on the other side for another 20 minutes.
