Kanpai Deli
Kanpai Deli is a recent opening born from the need to make the gastronomic experience of Kanpai possible at home, a famous contemporary izakaya located in Porta Venezia area that offers a revisited Japanese cuisine.
Because of the Covid-19, many restaurateurs have committed themselves to the arduous task of creating a good home service that can allow loyal customers (and not) to live the experience of the restaurant remotely.
Kanpai Deli offers a very efficient service, both because it has a website where you can create an account through which you can personalize your orders, and because delivery is almost timely.
The menu, prepared by chef Masaki Okada, includes a wide choice of dishes, obviously also proposed in the Kanpai menu.
Among the dishes I tried I liked very much the bao stuffed with chashu, marinated ginger, mayonnaise and Japanese mustard (very tasty), the menchi katsu sando made with beef cutlet, mayonnaise, mustard and salad (probably the dish I liked of more), homemade udon grilled with pak-choi, carrots, celery, tofu and homemade Japanese sauce (a very pleasant vegetable-rich dish), artisan gyoza cooked on a plate, the karage of boneless chicken legs and marinated with ginger and sake, with yuzukosho mayonnaise.
Finally, there is Bara Cirashi which is perhaps the dish I liked the least, but only because I don't like seared fish mixed with raw fish because the former covers the flavor of the latter as a whole. If you love poke this dish will surely meet your taste.
In all the dishes I tried I found quality and freshness - also in the cirashi, whose fish is personally selected by the chef.
All the proposals are delicious but at the same time they have a delicate touch, typical of the mastery of Japanese chefs who know how to perfectly balance the flavors.
The overall price is certainly not popular, however the preparations are really tasty but above all abundant.
Last but not least, I would also like to point out the presence in the menu of exclusive cocktails made by Samuele Lissoni, barman of Kanpai, sake (by virtue of a collaboration with Enter Sake), kombucha, beer and the dessert with matcha tea garnished with whipped cream.
In short, whether you are alone or in company (especially the second case), Kanpai Deli is an excellent initiate to give a fun and tasty turn to the evening. Really recommended!
