JD Ristorante Cinese 久大饭庄

If there is a restaurant that was missing in western Milan this is definitely JD Chinese Restaurant! In an area where there is objectively a lack of excellent Asian restaurants (with very few exceptions), we now finally know where to enjoy an excellent traditional dinner.

Open for a few weeks, it is still little known. The entrance is anonymous, as is the environment inside. But don't be intimidated, because once you have tasted the dishes you will be pleasantly surprised.

Here the specialty is Sichuan cuisine, spicy, aromatic and dry, a real triumph for the taste buds. All dishes are homemade and freshly prepared - the wait between dishes is consistent, but not unnerving.

To start I enjoyed the amazing off-menu bao: huge, hot and full of pork filling. I think its the best baozi tasted in town!

Followed by the spicy Miao Miao sautéed rice with beef, a real delight: tasty, not excessively greasy, you will brush it in the blink of an eye. Same goes for Sichuan Spicy Lazz Chicken - crispy, flavorful chicken nuggets, I've rarely eaten such a good simple dish. I accompanied it with some sautéed pak choi with garlic.

For dessert, green tea or coconut mochi.

The rest of the menu is fairly extensive and boasts many specialties that I would like to try as soon as possible, such as guloi yuk (sweet and sour pork from the Guangdong area), braised eggplant with pork ragout or Chinese mushrooms with oyster sauce. There are also bibimbap revisited in a Chinese way, perfect as a single dish.

My experience at JD Chinese Restaurant was more than positive. In addition to the delicious food, I found the staff to be very polite and the final bill really honest. I will definitely be back!
