Gilgeori toast - Korean street toast

Gilgeori toast (길거리토스트), Korean street toast, is one of the most popular street foods in South Korea.

Preparing this sandwich is really very simple, also because you won't need Korean ingredients.


  • 2 slices of sandwich bread

  • finely chopped cabbage or cabbage

  • 1 carrot finely chopped

  • 1 spring onion finely chopped

  • 1 egg

  • 1 slice of cheddar (or thin slice)

  • Salt to taste.

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • ketchup

  • butter


  • Mix cabbage, carrot, spring onion, salt and egg in a bowl.

  • Heat a large pan and melt some butter in it. Pour in the vegetable mixture and, with the help of a spatula, make sure that it cooks like the loaf of bread. Cook the mixture on both sides and sprinkle with sugar.

  • Add more butter and brown the bread slices on both sides in the same pan.

  • Prepare the toast by placing the omelette, the slice of cheddar, ketchup on the first slice of bread and then the second slice of bread.
