Fratelli ravioli
Just outside the Porta Genova metro exit there is a small, very simple and well-kept restaurant specializing in dumplings: Fratelli ravioli.
Here you can enjoy excellent Chinese dumplings steamed or grilled by stopping comfortably in the outdoor area or by sitting inside at the counter with an open kitchen, where the chefs prepare the specialties by hand at the moment.
The offer is quite wide: from the more classic Cantonese-style dumplings, to the more contemporary ones, the result of a reinterpretation that sees the use of particular ingredients such as saffron or cuttlefish ink. To underline the genuineness of the basic ingredients, starting with the meat of the Salumificio Costa di Gambolò, in the Pavia area.
Excellent, in my opinion, xiaolongbao of pork or those stuffed with veal, baked pork baozi but also the scones: I tried both the one with chives and the one stuffed with pork and marinated vegetables. Beware of the explosive content, get plenty of napkins and avoid getting stained!
The rest of the menu has recently been expanded and rice dumplings and rice or soy noodles have been added.
To top it all, Chinese desserts including pumpkin-based cookies and red beans or sesame rice dumplings. I recommend, if you have never tried them, the yam rolls (a type of red potato), very special.
Fratelli ravioli is confirmed as a valid point of reference in the Navigli area for a quick snack, lunch or snack. If you are fond of dim sum at an overall low price this is the place for you.
