Castello d'oro

Castello d'oro, located in Farini area, is one of those restaurants which I often pass by without understanding its typology. To intrigue me, the plaque above the entrance that indicates its opening since 1982. A place with a long history, therefore, written and carried on with passion by the Hu family and which today offers one of the most interesting and appreciated Chinese gastronomic variations: Sichuan cuisine.

The restaurant is large and tastefully decorated, the staff is kind and fast.

The menu is divided between that of lunch (with very cheap and quick formulas, which wink at Italian customers) and that of dinner, which is what is really interesting - attention: you can still choose the à la carte menu in the evening too. at noon, if you like.

Among the dishes I tasted I indicate the spring roll (fragrant, very classic) among the hot appetizers (which also include dumplings and Chinese focaccia) and the crushed cucumber salad among the cold appetizers.

To avoid opting for the usual white rice, I suggest you try the delicate "golden castle rice", with egg, saffron, shrimp, vegetables and shiitake mushrooms. Among the meats, I chose the excellent beef with cumin, a traditional dish that I always particularly appreciate.

The rest of the menu is genuine compared to Sichuan recipes - not all dishes are particularly spicy, so don't be afraid if you don't eat very spicy. A note of merit certainly goes to the great choice of vegetable dishes ranging from cauliflower, green beans, cabbage and seasonal specialties. I tried the fried potatoes with salt and pepper, really good.

Castello d'oro is therefore a pleasant discovery: a warm and welcoming environment, dishes in the right quantity and at a correct price. If you are in the area for a quick lunch or want to spend an evening with friends, this restaurant is a good option.
