Antidoto
Antidoto is special place that bears the subtitle of "Japanese inn - Japanese care, Italian passion". It is located in Porta Romana area in an anonymous street and therefore well hidden. Just like a "medicine", Antidoto is proposed as a remedy for the speed, the neuroses and the tiredness of everyday life by offering a caress to the client, a gentle suspension from everyday life.
This is the premise on paper and, once you have tried this little place, I assure you that it really is!
Once you cross the threshold you will find yourself in an elegant environment with soft lighting. On the walls dozens of bottles and many Japanese whiskeys.
Crossing the main hall you will come to a small secret garden adorned with plants and many candles. A delightful setting, this, which in the cold months is converted into a winter garden.
Few seats, immense warmth and kindness on the part of Kinu (originally from Chiba, who takes care of the sushi at the counter) and Luca, an excellent host who with his savoir faire will make you fall in love with the menu, describing it in all the details. Yes, because here you will not find a menu or a wine list. Let us guide you and, trust me, you will not regret it!
We start with the choice of sake or wines; there are really many, many Italians including natural and bio-dynamic ones. If you are a fan, here you will find some niche labels.
The main proposals concern the rolls, one fresher and more delicate than the other: with Mazara prawns and sea bass cut with a knife, fresh orange juice, ponzu, shiso, yuzu peel and cucumber and tempura vegetables inside; of freshly flamed raw scampi with tuna bottarga, ponzu, orange and tobiko; with tuna sashimi with mayo base, orange juice, smoothed pistachios, organic anchovy paste, tobiko with yuzu and tempura avocado inside; with Fassona tartare with cucumber inside and Piedmontese or Black Angus carpaccio outside, green sauce, wasabi kisami root, toasted almonds, teriyaki sauce, flamed before serving.
Anyone who knows me knows how much I am not a fan of rolls. But coming here made me change my mind: Kinu's cuisine is stunning, very light, one of the very rare cases in which the mixture of ingredients is dictated by intelligence and superior ability. No flavor dominates the other, each bite is a triumph of freshness and flavor.
After all, the ingredients used are very fresh and of excellent quality, such as wasabi which is imported as a root directly from Japan.
The rest of the courses change according to the evening and are equally tasty and inviting.
For dessert, a generous variety of mochi.
So let's get to the sums. What else could amaze me about this wonderful place? The bill. Yes, because it is blatantly honest. It does not even seem that such a formula can exist in Milan: drink well, enjoy delicious food, be pampered throughout the evening in such a romantic setting and spend the right amount. Really crazy!
Come with your sweetheart, with the best or the best friend, here you will never go wrong. You can come only to drink, or to drink and eat much more because sharing is encouraged by the fact that you can also choose half a portion per dish, a really good choice. And if you want to order something directly from home then consult the store online.
