In the heart of Isola, since 2018, a cocktail bar with an international design and many intriguing and sophisticated proposals has opened: Bob.
It is a project of the Chinese twins Luca and Michele Hu, who already distinguished themselves in the city for the Chinese Box cocktail bar, located in Corso Garibaldi - which I urge you to try because they are also very well drunk.
Bob takes its name from the acronym "Bourbon and Original Bao", or rather from the idea of combining the world of American whiskey (as the beautiful and large bottle behind the counter demonstrates) and Chinese cuisine, especially baozi (soft sandwiches steamed stuffed). The food pairing is in fact the goal of this place: in addition to offering a very high quality of signature drinks (signed by the talented capobarman mixologist Lucian Bucur), Bob gives the opportunity to combine a series of Chinese and Asian-inspired specialties (made by chef Fabrizio Carta) to complete the experience.
As it is easy to guess, here baozi are really good, abundant and tasty. Absolutely try the bao with stewed bacon, red onion and spicy mayonnaise: mouth-watering! Also not to be missed are the mixed dumplings (each colored and with a different taste based on meat, vegetables or fish) and, above all, the xiaolongbao with pork, meat broth and spring onion: I am not kidding if I say that they are among the best eaten in Milan!
You can also order more substantial dishes (such as gai fan, a single dish consisting of meat or fish and rice), perfect for dinner.
In any case, together with the cocktail you order you will be brought an accompanying dish with chips, edamame and various whims such as, for example, warm spring rolls.
The drinks, needless to say, are really great: the classics are masterfully executed and the signatures are a surprising find.
The staff is kind, fast, attentive and always smiling, the final bill is slightly higher than the various places in the area but totally justified by the raw material used for the food, the craftsmanship of the preparations and the accuracy placed in the cocktail.
Whether it's an aperitif, a dinner or an end of the evening, Bob is always the right choice.
